Gupta accuses Govt of delaying execution of several major projects

KATHUA, Aug 8: Alleging deliberate neglect and monumental delay in the execution of several major projects in Jammu areas, the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has pointed out that adjoining Himachal Pradesh which was quite backward only some decades back, has surpassed this State and is emerging as one of the developed States of the country.
Addressing meetings of the activists in course of his two-day tour of Bani-Basohli areas bordering Himachal, Prof. Gupta pointed out the Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah Road Project was taken up for execution by the State in early eighties but this still remains incomplete even after the expiry of about three decades. Although this project was handed over to the Border Road Organisation (BRO) during the NDA rule for its speedy construction but the hurdles created by the State Government have left the project incomplete.
Similarly, he pointed out that the bridge at river Ravi was hanging fire since eighties and a fiddling with the scheme was going on for years together.  This project was also included in the Defence Sector but it too, remains yet to be completed although now the work is going on and is hoped to be completed in the near future.
Prof. Gupta also pointed out to the inter-state road project of Chamba-Bhaderwah road which was through in early eighties but mysteriously was closed later.  This road coupled with completion of Basohli-Bani road could prove a boon for developing tourism but the ruling leaders owe an explanation that who was responsible for all mess and delay.
In course of his tour, Prof. Gutpa was accompanied by five MLAs including Jagdish Raj Saploia, Durga Dass, Baldev Raj Sharma, Master Lal hand and Bharat Bhushan.   Prof. Gharu Ram could not accompany for health reasons.
The former Pradesh general secretary of BJP,  Bhagwat Saroop also addressed the meeting of the activists at Basohli. At different places the people listed their problems like that of awful conditions of educational institutions, health care centers, roads etc., as also growing unemployment.
