POONCH, Apr 17: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former MLA Ajaz Jan today expressed anguish over callous approach of the Administration in failing to reach out to fire-sufferers, whose properties were gutted in a fire incident.
Interacting with the sufferers and expressing his solidarity with them, Jan said that NC will take up the issue of their compensation and interim relief at appropriate levels.
Jan said the Government must take appropriate initiatives to help the fire sufferers and enable them to resume their avocations at the earliest. He deplored the delay by the Government and said whenever such unfortunate incidents used to take place during the NC led dispensation, the sufferers were never let wanting.
“But the scenario now is different, with the elected representatives and the Government showing scant concern for those suffering”, he said and urged the district Administration to take appropriate measures for providing relief to the sufferers.
He said each sufferer has suffered losses worth lakhs and they have virtually come on roads. “Therefore, there is need to provide assistance commensurate to the losses”, he added.
