A fresh WD to hit J&K tomorrow

SRINAGAR: A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to hit the region tomorrow which could result in rain or thundershowers during the next two days. However, sun was again out today though the minimum temperature has witnessed a dip in the Kashmir valley. A met department spokesman said here this afternoon that weather will be generally dry over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. However, during the subsequent four days, there could be scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers as a fresh WD is likely to hit later in the day tomorrow. Rain would continue till April 20, he predicted. Though the minimum temperature witnessed drop but it was still above normal in the valley, where world famous ski resort of Gulmarg and famed health resort of Pahalgam recorded 3 degree, which was two and one degree above normal respectively. Qazigund recorded 6.6 degree minimum temperature, Kokernag 6.7 degree and Kupwara 7 degree.
It was yet another sunny day in the summer capital, Srinagar, where the minimum temperature was 8.6 degree, which was about two notches above normal. Met spokesman said there could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 22 degree and 11 degree respectively in the city during the next 24 hours. Leh recorded 4.4 degree while it was 2.7 degree minimum temperature at Kargil, a border town in Ladakh region.The sky would be generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 17 degree and 4 degree respectively in Leh tomorrow. He said there could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree and 19 degree respectively in Jammu tomorrow. (AGENCIES)
