Dr Jitendra flays Geelani’s remarks

JAMMU, Aug 8:  Taking strong exception to a highly irresponsible and provocative speech by Syed Ali Shah Geelani played out on the public audio system during the funeral of Hizbul Commander and Delhi High Court blast accused Amir Ali Kamal in Kishtwar yesterday, BJP National Executive Member & J&K Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh alleged that the separatist leader’s unauthenticated allegations of genocide against a particular community amount to an act of sedition and a deliberate attempt to spread communal hatred.
In a statement issued here today Dr Singh said this also raises a serious question mark on the working and intentions of the National Conference-Congress Coalition Government which has repeatedly betrayed a tendency to selectively intimidate the minority community leaders while allowing a long rope to separatist leaders like Geelani at the risk of disturbing peace and jeopardizing security situation in this sensitive State.
Dr. Jitendra Singh accused the N C and Congress, of playing a dangerous game of appeasement of separatists and militants in the hope of buying peace with communal elements to continue in power. He warned that such a misguided approach is always bound to be self-limiting and it invariably ends up consuming the ruler himself.
Lashing out at the State Coalition, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the N C and Congress leaders are never tired of accusing the nationalist organizations like BJP of playing divisive politics but the same leaders develop a cold feet and turn silent when confronted by separatists and secessionists which, in other words, implies that it is infact the ruling parties NC and Congress that are playing divisive politics by creating a wedge among various communities in the State.
Questioning the credentials of leaders like Geelani to talk about socalled genocide against his community, Dr. Jitendra Singh asked where was Geelani when the Kashmiri Pandit community in the Valley became a victim of mass genocide cum exodus and instead of raising his voice against it, Hurriyat leader and his followers put up threatening posters in Srinagar and other towns commanding the Pandits to leave the Valley overnight or face the consequences.
Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed concern that at a time when the situation in the State was gradually returning to normalcy, some of the self styled  Kashmir centric leaders, both from  separatist as well as mainstream camps, are trying to instigate the atmosphere with  patronage from the Congress led UPA Government at the centre.
