GMS Chack Doulat sans teachers

JAMMU, Aug 8: On one hand the Government boasts of imparting quality education and on the other hand it has utterly failed to arrange required number of teachers in the Government schools.
The Government Middle School, Chack Doulat of Zone Ramgarh in Samba district is a testimony to the fact, where two teachers have only been posted to teach 35 students and out of them one is ReT. The School had a third teacher also earlier but he was transferred by the authorities and no substitute has been posted in his place till date.
The shortage of teachers in the school has affected the studies of the students a lot, as two teachers are unable to attend 40 periods of different classes during the day.
According to sources the two teachers who were posted in the same school three years back did not join their duties as they were got adjusted in their home localities by the authorities and they were still drawing their salaries against the posts lying in the same school.
On the other hand the Government Middle School, Chack Salarian, which is just one kilometer away from the Middle School Chack Doulat, has 6 teachers and 37 students. This shows the mismanagement prevalent in the Education Department, where no one is bothered about the students’ future, sources added.
Though the locals approached the CEO Samba several times but no attention was paid by him to settle the issue and ensure the proper teaching staff in the school.
The callousness of the Education authorities has led to a lot of public resentment in the area and raged over the issue the villagers today protested in the school premises and interrupted the functioning of the school. They in an appeal to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, urged to post two more teachers in the said school immediately, failing which they will lock the school.
