Sumo operators unpaid for poll duty hold protest

MENDHAR, Apr 18: The Sumo operators of the area, who were not paid after being hired for Assembly elections duty today blocked Jammu-Mendhar road for three hours and staged protest.
A large number of Tata Sumo operators of Mendhar sub division came out on the road  at around 8.30 am and started protest. They disrupted movement of traffic for about three hours. They alleged that nearly 25 Tata Sumos which were hired by the local administration during Assembly Elections  were not paid.  They shouted slogans against the Administration  and Election authorities.
Later,  Tehsildar and SHO reached there and assured to take up the matter with DC Poonch. The Sumo operators then lifted dharna and allowed the movement of traffic towards Jammu.
