Shah Rukh Khan honoured at Asian Awards

LONDON, Apr 18:
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award at the fifth annual Asian Awards held here last night.
The 49-year-old actor was given the award by Indian-origin British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha and he said he was humbled to receive the honour. “I am extremely humbled and honoured to receive this award. I say this very often that my stardom belongs to most South East Asians who reside abroad who have made the Indian cinema and me known around the world.
“I congratulate all the winners at the Asian Awards as well. I am glad to have been a part of such a wonderful celebration of hard work by people in difference field but similar passion,” Shah Rukh said after receiving the honour. Previous winners in the cinema category include, Irrfan Khan, Anupam Kher and Yash Chopra.
Hosted by fashion icon, Gok Wan, The Asian Awards dazzled with an array of global celebrities former One Direction star including Zayn Malik, Lydia Bright, Casey Batchelor, Ollie Locke, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal, John Rocha, Michelle Collins, Nick Moran, Preeya Kalidas, Anna Williamson, Kelly Hoppen, Danielle Lineker, Anita Rani, Tasmin Lucia Khan, Colin Jackson, Cerys Matthews among others. Shah Rukh later tweeted a photo of him partying with Malik, who recently quit boyband One Direction.
“This kid is so cool. May Allah bless him. Dinner time at the Asian Awards,” SRK tweeted. (PTI)
