POONCH/ RAJOURI, Apr 19: Two minor boys were killed while nine other people injured when a Tata Sumo fell into a gorge in Mandi area of district Poonch today.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place when the vehicle, bearing registration number JK-12/6580 was on its way to Mandi from Arai village. On the way, the driver lost control on the vehicle and it landed into a gorge, resulting into the death of two boys, both brothers, on the spot.
As the police and locals of the area came to know about the mishap, they rushed to the spot. The injured were shifted to Mandi hospital from where six of them were referred to District Hospital, Poonch. The dead bodies of the two deceased were also shifted to the mortuary of Mandi hospital. The deceased were identified as Mohd Rafiq and Mohd Shafiq, both sons of Mohd Sharief, resident of Arai village in Mandi.
Six injured persons referred to Poonch hospital have been identified as Mohd Din, Mohd Rafiq, Tazeem Akhtar, Saleem Akhtar, Jahangir Ahmed and Showkat Hussain. Three other injured undergoing treatment in Mandi hospital are- Sajjad Ahmed, Mohd Fareed and Mohd Akbar, all residents of Arai village. Mandi police has taken cognizance of the matter.
It said that the vehicle was speeding as per the statement of the accident victims and a case has been registered in this connection.
Meanwhile, in a car accident at Dangri near Rajouri, three persons including two minor boys were injured. The mishap took place when they were moving towards Rajouri from Kalakote in Alto car No. JK02AP/3773.
All the three injured were admitted to District Hospital, Rajouri. They have been identified as Mohd Yasir (25), son of Gulshad, resident of Kalakote, Azad Ahmed (15), son of Mohd Imtiaz and Owais Ahmed, son of Khayam, both residents of Balakote in Mendhar.
