Army jawan kills himself

JAMMU, Aug 8: An Army soldier today ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifles, Insas, inside his unit at Samba this morning.
The Army jawan, Swaran Arun V, 30, son of Vishwa Mohan Pillay, a resident of Trivandrum, Kerala, received a telephone call, reportedly from his house at around 5.30 am while on guard duty.
After the duty, he went to the guard room and shot himself dead with his service weapon.
After hearing the sound of gun shot, a number of soldiers gathered at the spot. The jawan was later shifted to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Senior officers visited the spot. They ordered a Court of Inquiry (CoI) into the incident.
Body of the Army jawan has been sent to his native town after post-mortem and completion of other legal formalities. However, reasons behind the extreme step taken by the Army soldier couldn’t be ascertained.
