Professionalism during CI Ops crucial policing requirement: ADGP Armed

JAMMU, Apr 20: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed, J&K, S M Sahai today said that professionalism during counter insurgency and anti-terrorist operations is one of the principal policing requirements in J&K.
While speaking in a meeting with a team of officers from National Security Guard (NSG) here at Armed Police Headquarters, Mr Sahai said that J&K Police is working towards better and effective strategies for advanced all round professional policing approach so that collateral damage in terms of men and material are minimized. “We are striving to minimize risks of collateral damage of men and material during anit-terrorist operations and in this regard professional training is being imparted to our men”, he added.
The ADGP said, “better training is a critical factor behind effective policing, this is true not only for day-to-day policing but also for policing against organized crimes and tackling terrorist attacks”.
He said that Commando Training Center at Lethpora Kashmir is being proposed to specially train police personnel on pattern of NSG to counter terrorist attacks with zero collateral damage. “Several armed police personnel have been given specialized trainings like counter-insurgency, jungle warfare, bomb-detection etc. There is more scope of expanding the training activities and probably round the year quality training of all ranks is the answer”, he added.
The ADGP said that J&K Police is focussing on the constant training in knowledge, skills and attitudes of good policing. But, more importantly the general policing in the State should be fully professional and citizen friendly in their approach.  “It is now important for us to have a fully equipped and professional Police Training centres at par with some of the best training institutes of this country, this will help J&K Police to develop as an all round professional organisation”, he added.
