Short play fest awards: Aditi Aryan, Anroop Pathania win accolades

JAMMU, Apr 20: Samooh Theatre Jammu and Society for Environment, Culture and Modern Art, today gave away the awards for the Three-day Short Play Festival held at K L Saigal Hall from 17 to 19 April 2015.
As recommended by the adjudicating jury of senior actors J.R Sagar and Arvind Anand, the Best Production Award went to ‘Bobby’ by Rash Group, while ‘Hawalaat’ by ‘The Performers’ and ‘Vairvey’ by Kasali Punjabi Rangmanch got the 2nd and 3rd best plays awards respectively. The play ‘Gatt’, by Chandarbhaga Sanskriti Manch, Akhnoor, was selected for consolation award.
Aditi Aryan bagged the Best Actor award in female category for her role as Bobby, while Shivani Anand and Anuradha got 2nd and 3rd best actor awards for their roles in ‘Agnipriksha’ and ‘Vairvey’, respectively.
The Best Actor award in male category was bagged by Anroop Pathania for his role as Gangu in Munshi Prem Chand’s Balak. The 2nd best and 3rd best actor awards in male category were won by Neeraj Sethi for his role in ‘Vairvey’ and Shazi Khan for his role in ‘Beti’, respectively. The best child artist award was given to Kunal Sharma while Rishav Verma was given certificate of merit.
In the Best Director Category, first, second and third awards were given to Ravinder Sharma for ‘Bobby’, Varun Sharma for ‘Hawalaat’ and Javed Gill for ‘Vairvey’, respectively. The award for best local script was given to Mohan Singh’s Dogri play ‘Vairvey’.
Certificates of Merit were awarded to Uplaksh Singh, Ashiq, Shashi Bhushan, Mushtaq Ali, Aditya Bhanu, Naman Sharma (child actor), Neha Sahrma, Samdish, Goutam and O.P. Deepak for his role of ailing father in Gatt.
Sapna Soni, who conducted the festival, was also awarded for her professional compeering.
Congratulating the winning artists, the chief guest of the function, Sat Pal C.A, MLA, Jammu West, hoped that the awards would encourage artistes to strive for further excellence. He also promised to extend all possible help to the theatre community.
Today’s function, was attended by Dr Sudhir Mahan, Seema Devi, Vijay Sharma and large  number of artistes, writers, participating artistes and their parents.
