JAMMU : Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Amaranath Shrine Board, today visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar base camp and reviewed the arrangements being made for the pilgrims for this year’s Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from July 2 simultaneously along both the Baltal and Chandanwari routes.
Addressing the meeting of officers, the Governor reviewed the sector wise and item wise arrangements for the Yatra which included the reception of Yatris at the Railway Station and the Bus Stand; On spot Registration of the pilgrims who arrive without having secured Advance Registration; the requirements of accommodation, catering, hygiene, sanitation, etc.
He directed the District and Divisional authorities to ensure satisfactory arrangements in regard to water, power supply, garbage disposal, medicare, transport, etc for the pilgrims.
He also directed that the Tourism Deptt. should timely examine the provision of lockers for the safe custody of the Yatries’ belongings.
The Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure against any unregistered pilgrims being allowed to proceed to the Valley and directed the concerned authorities to ensure the provision of On spot Registration counters at Saraswati Dham and Jammu Haat.
He also directed that transport arrangements should be made for ferrying the Yatris to the On spot Registration centers and proper check being exercised on the rates to be charged for such travel. For the facilitation of Yatris, the Governor desired that pamphlets containing complete guidance and information about available facilities, routes, distances etc should be got printed and distributed among the arriving Yatris, from Lakhanpur Post onwards.
