JAMMU, Apr 23: Accusing BJP and PDP of playing communal and regional card, Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir today said that divisive politics was most dangerous for the sensitive State like J&K.
While addressing party workers at one day convention held in Jammu East here today, the PCC chief said that the politics of hatred and divisiveness is most dangerous in this sensitive State than any other part of the country. He regretted that BJP and PDP played divisive cards for petty political gains during elections, ignoring the broader interest of the nation.
Mir said the U-turn of the two parties for Government formation is most opportunist and unholy alliance as these parties secured  their respective mandates by politics of deception and exploitation. Although there appeared a pre-poll understanding between them, but they fully used the emotional issues of respective regions, by promising to checkmate each other from power.
He said Congress has always ensured balanced and equitable development of three regions to foster harmony between people of regions and different faiths. He urged the people of Jammu to expose the power hungry politics and hatred spread by the communal and divisive forces. Mir said that Congress ensured two central universities one each for Kashmir and Jammu, but the BJP-PDP have failed to respect the aspirations and needs of two regions on issue of AIIMS and other issues leading to unrest and resentment among people.
Senior party leader Sham Lal flayed the BJP and PDP for playing with the sentiments of people  and ignoring the genuine aspirations of Jammu region with regard to AIIMS, Article 370, refugees of PoK of 1947, 1965 & 1971 and border residents. He said that the BJP Ministers and legislators  are mute spectators to the anti- Jammu policies and asked the people to teach BJP a lesson in the next Local Bodies elections. He also appealed to people to support the movement for securing AIIMS at Jammu which was announced by the Union Government on February 28. He urged the people to lodge strong protest by making the ‘Bandh Call’ a great success.
CLP leader Rigzin Jora castigated BJP for exploiting the regional and religious sentiments of the people during elections but compromised their ideology and issues of people for the lust of power. He said that Prime Minister  Narendra Modi urged the people to vote for BJP to keep PDP out of power while making tall promises to ensure empowerment of Jammu region. However, it surrendered its policies for the sake of power and people feel cheated by this approach of BJP.
Raman Bhalla asserted that Congress would play a vibrant role to safe guard the interests of people of Jammu region. Yogesh Sawhney, former Minister urged the people to unitedly rise against the anti- Jammu policies of BJP-PDP coalition and expose their double standards in politics.
Vikram Malhotra, PCC general secretary, who organized the convention in coordination with District, Block and Ward units, expressed gratitude to the Congress workers and people for their whole hearted support and said that the religious and regional exploitation was the cause that people choose BJP in the elections.
Anil Chopra, Manmohan Singh, Namrata Sharma, Ch Shahnawaz, Ashok Sharma, Indu Pawar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pranav Shagotra and Neeraj Kundan also spoke on the occasion.
