JAMMU, Apr 25: A couple hailing from Chhattisgarh and presently residing at Lakkar Mandi in Janipur tried to end their lives by cutting their wrists.
According to SHO Janipur, Inspector Ajit Singh, the couple identified as Kanshi Ram and Pinki had gone to someone’s house at Chowk Chabutra on Friday morning where they had a quarrel over some issue, which escalated so much that both cut their wrists and thereafter poured kerosene oil on themselves in an attempt to commit suicide.
On getting information, a police team from Chowk Chabutra reached the spot and shifted the seriously injured couple to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where their condition is stated to be serious.
“We have registered a case of attempt to suicide and further investigations are on. However, the statement of the couple is still to be recorded as they are not fit for making any statement”, the SHO Janipur added.
