JAMMU, Apr 25: A young girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence at Pallanwala in Akhnoor sector while a woman was killed in a road mishap at Nandni in Jhajjar Kotli area.
According to a police spokesperson, a girl identified as Shiv Kumari (19) allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence following which the family members shifted to a nearby Government hospital, from where in view of her serious condition, the doctors shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, around midnight.
However, she expired during treatment in the wee hours of today.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Chanchla Devi (30) wife of Gaya Singh, a resident of Dharmarh, who was going with her husband on a bike got serious injuries when their two-wheeler was hit by tanker near Nandni in Jhajjar Kotli area. The injured woman was immediately shifted to a nearby Government hospital, from where she was later referred to GMCH. However, the injured lady succumbed to her injuries after few minutes of reaching GMCH.
The bodies of both the deceased was handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after conducting postmortem. In both the cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance.
