JAMMU, Apr 25: Asserting that the present dispensation is committed to fulfill the basic needs of the people of the State especially those residing in remote and far-off hamlets, the Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta has asked the senior functionaries of vital departments to adopt positive approach to streamline services and maintain public utilities.
The Speaker said this during his tour to Nai Basti, Gangyal, Jeevan Nagar, Gidder Gallian, Dharap and other areas to take stock of the development works being executed in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Addressing a gathering at Gidder Gallian, the Speaker said that specific instructions have already been conveyed to all the concerned departments to put in there sincere and dedicated efforts to provide every facility to people at their doorsteps which is the top priority of the Coalition Government, adding that every effort is being made to strengthen the developmental infrastructure in rural areas.
The people of Gidder Gallian and adjoining areas projected their demands which include development of temple and Gurudwara, repair of roads, lanes and drains, construction of household latrines, fresh BPL survey, repair and upgradation of existing transformers, adequate supply of ration, kerosene oil, LPG, timely disbursement of old age/widow/handicapped  pension, financial assistance for construction of pacca houses etc.
The Speaker assured that their genuine demands would be given due consideration at concerned quarters.
Gupta also reviewed desilting work of Distribution Canal (D-9) and Main Ranbir Canal at Nai Basti and asked the concerned officers to gear up men and machinery to start desilting work and ensure its completion in  shortest possible time.
He also visited educational institutions enroute and called upon the teachers to maintain punctuality and work with utmost dedication and commitment to impart quality education to the students. He asked them to keep proper hygiene while serving mid day meal.
Speaker directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to repair defunct street lights and clear the choked nallahs/drains so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He directed the officers to closely monitor the development projects in their respective jurisdictions for their early completion.
