UDHAMPUR, Apr 25: District Police Udhampur today seized one kilogram charas and 53 kg poppy straw and arrested two smugglers in this regard.
The narcotics were seized from a Tata Mobile vehicle, bearing registration number JK14A-4516, which was intercepted on National Highway near Kud by a Police party, led by SHO Kud, Inspt Raghubir Singh.
During thorough search of the vehicle, one kilogram charas and 53 kg poppy straw (bhukki) was recovered. Police also arrested the Tata Mobile driver and his associate, identified as Mohd Mehro of Reasi and Karam Din of Krimchi Mansar, Udhampur.
A case under Section 8/15/20 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Kud.
