Tap human resource into value assets: Naeem

KATHUA, Apr 25: Stressing upon the need to tap the human resource into the value assets of the State, Minister for Education Naeem Akhter called upon the teaching fraternity to guide students to pursue career oriented vocational subjects besides their traditional focus on academic education.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Smart Class Room at Government Degree College Kathua today.
Director Colleges T.A Kawoos, Director School Education Simrandeep Singh, SSP Kathua Neeva Jain, ADDC Kathua Manmohan Singh, ADC Kathua Mushtaq Ahmed,Chief Education Officer T.R Mangotra, district officers, staff and students of college were among those present on the occasion.
The Minister said the objective of establishing Smart Class Rooms is to provide education through audio visual methods in composed environment to sustain the interest of students. The smart class room is a proven mechanism which helps in quality enrichment through technological intervention, the minister added. The minister further said that Government is keen to multiply the number of smart class rooms  in other colleges in coming times.
Naeem Akhter said Government Degree College Kathua has proved to be an island of intellectual activities which is a guiding model for other colleges. He appreciated the college authorities for achieving academic excellence besides being proactive in research.
Earlier, Principal GDC Kathua Prof. B.L Gupta presented the college profile through power point presentation. He disclosed that the Smart Class Room is equipped with screen, digital board, projector and broad band connection in air conditioned environment. The Principal also submitted the memorandum of demands to the minister.
The Minister launched college Newsletter Ravi and three other books.
Later the minister convened a meeting with CEO and ZEOs/ZEPOs of Kathua district.
Threadbare discussions on the education profile of Kathua district was held in the meeting where the Education Minister held detailed review of the status of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya’s (KGBV),  and directed the ZEOs to submit the enrolment status of schools of their respective zones within a week’s time. He said utilization of school buildings and rationalization of school staff will be done with utmost priority. He said Government is serious to achieve the real object of opening of KGBV.
Director School Education Jammu Simrandeep Singh also apprised the status of school buildings taken up under RMSA. He said out of total 35 additional class rooms buildings 17 have been completed so far.
