RAJOURI, Apr 25: Saying that the tourism potential in Rajouri belt will be adequately explored and harnessed, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Choudhry Zulfkar Ali today envisioned huge scope for eco-tourism in Kotranka and its adjoining areas.
Addressing public meetings during his day long visit to Buddhal and Kotranka, the Minister said the virgin areas of the belt have huge tourism potential which can be optimally utilized for transforming the economic landscape of the region besides putting it on the larger tourism canvass.
Ch Zulfkar said tourism activity will give a big boost to local economy which in turn will benefit the people, especially youth. The Government, he said, will provide all necessary help in creating infrastructure as per norms to enable the people ensure best possible facilities for the visiting tourists. He said efforts would be to setup a ropeway project in Kotranka, which will go a long way in giving impetus to tourism. He said Kotranka will serve as a base camp for tourism activities in the entire belt.
Responding to the local issues, the Minister said that the government is earnestly endeavouring to upgrade the utility service to enhance the quality of life of the people especially those living in far-off and remote areas. He said while thrust will be laid on improving road network, other services too shall get focused attention. He said empowerment of people and their welfare is the fundamental policy of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led Government and with the cooperation of people, all the developmental objectives would be realized in a time bound manner.
Referring to upgrading irrigational facilities, the Minister said that Rs 71 crores have been earmarked for Anaas Irrigation Project which will enhance the productivity and give boost to agricultural production. He said the government is also devising a mechanism to set up five megawatt power projects to increase power generation and to meet the growing requirements of the people.
During his visit, Choudhary Zulfkar paid surprise visit to various schools. He asked the Chief Education Officer to take immediate measures for posting of adequate number of teachers in such of the schools which have larger number of students.
The Minister exhorted the people to take lead role in the developmental process and cooperate in execution of various programmes and schemes, tailored for their overall welfare.
During his meeting, the people brought to his notice several issues pertaining to development and the Minister said these will be examined at appropriate level for earnest redressal.
