Dr Bhat’s ‘Azad The Poet of Lool’ hits stands

JAMMU, Apr 26: Though expected much earlier, Dr R L Bhat’s translation of Abdul Ahad Azad’s poetry -Azad The Poet of Lool hit the stands here, today.
The book besides the translation on Azad’s works is the in depth study on the works of this revolutionary poet of Kashmir who was the embodiment of love which is reflected in his revolutionary poetry.
As admitted by Dr Bhat in his speech while releasing the book it took the author complete three decades in bringing a research based book on the works of Azad.
Dr Bhat gave credit to three people on brining this research based book on the great revolutionary poet of Kashmir who included his father Late Shiv Nath Bhat a great admirer of Azad, Late Prof B L Kaul a renowned scholar and former Dean Faculty of Arts Kashmir University and Mr Rinku who computerized the works.
Azad was the poet of Lool (Intense Love), which alone can be the signature of Kashmiriyat says the book on this famous Kashmiri poet of 20th century. The book was released at an impressive function organized by Sampriti an organization of writers and poets in exile headed by Dr R L Bhat at K L Saigal Hall here this evening.
Dr K L Choudhary a well known writer and Prof. P N Trisal spoke on the book in detail and highly acclaimed Dr Bhat for his research based study on Azad.
Dr Choudhary said it is a faithful and beautiful translation on Azad’s the book by Dr Bhat. He described it a great work of Dr Bhat also. The function was presided over by Dr R L Shant a renowned scholar while Pardeep Koul Khodabli conducted the proceedings and Kundan Paras secretary Samprati presented the vote of thanks.
Former Chief Secretary and ex MLC, Vijay Bakaya was the chief guest on the occasion who in his speech termed the book a great contribution of Dr Bhat in highlighting the works of Azad.
The book also included an introduction and critical assessment of both Azad’s persona and poetry. It breaks the myth of Azad having been a card holder Communist or a poor poet or a poet of Sofi inclinations. The books says that Azad was a nationalist of first water and writer for intense love, impartial, blameless, universal which transcends the narrow limits of religion to embrace humans of all creeds and colors.
Speaking on the occasion Hasrat Gadda, president Fankar Society of Kashmir and a well known art critic highly eulogized Dr Bhat’s work on Azad. He termed the book a great contribution of Dr Bhat towards this great poet who was issueless. He said some poems of Azad were earlier translated by T N Raina, Mr Beg, Prem Nath Bazaz and Mohammed Amin Malik.
Dr Roshan Saraf read a poem in the praise of Dr Bhat on the occasion.
