JAMMU, Apr 26:Jammu’s well known sculptor Rajinder Tikku has been awarded prestigious Gottleib Foundation grant. The second Indian to get this honour, Rajinder Tikku has been selected for dedication to his work over a period of many years and recognition of the quality of the his work in the field of creative sculpture.
The award called as individual support grant, has been instituted by The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, New York, USA, that has been operating since 1976 with main purpose of promoting interests of creative artists.
Rajinder Tikku, who has already earned recognition for his work in form of state, national and international level awards in various times, including Pollack Krasner Foundation Grant, was also conferred in 2013 with Padmashree, for his contributions in the field of sculpture.
Talking to Excelsior, Rajinder Tikku, showed satisfaction in the fact that he was one of the 12 applicants selected to receive the award out of 436 applications received by the Foundation from the artists from all over the world.
He said the award of Gottleib Foundation Grant which comprises of one time handsome financial support has come as a shot in his arm to devote more time to his work and pursue projects of creating monumental sculptures that serve as contemporary connotations of and effective reference to the continuity of our great sculptural tradition.
