RAMBAN, Apr 27: A Naib Subedar was killed while another got injured, when an uprooted tree descended on Army truck near Pantiyal area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated Army vehicle was on its way to Udhampur from Banihal, when an uprooted tree fell on the vehicle near Pantiyal area, falling under the jurisdiction of Ramsoo police station.
In the incident, a Naib Subedar identified as Bimlesh Yadav, son of Suraj Singh Yadav of Uttar Pradesh was killed and driver of the vehicle namely Ravi Shankar of Uttar Pradesh got injured.
Both the deceased and injured were posted with 5171/ASC Regiment.
After getting information, army personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Army Hospital at Chanderkote from where he was later referred to Command Hospital Udhampur for advanced treatment. The body of the deceased was also shifted to Army Hospital at Chanderkote.
Due to this incident, the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway also came to standstill. After around one hour, the damaged Army vehicle was removed from the spot and traffic was restored on the National Highway.
