LEH, Apr 29: On the second day of his tour to Changthang region, Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar visited Chumathang, Nee, Skidmang, Mahey, Niddar, Nyoma, Mudh and Rongo areas.
At Kesar, CEC inaugurated a foot suspension bridge over Indus, a Veterinary Hospital and building of Anganwadi Centre Nyoma Fu.
At Chumathang, people apprised CEC about various demands including opening of centralized residential school for the students of Chumathang and surrounding villages, black topping of link road, beautification of hot spring site, upgradation of the capability of BSNL tower and completion of pending irrigation channel.
Responding to the demand, CEC said that due to funding constraint, Council is not in a position to open such residential schools at this point of time. For other demands CEC issued instruction to the concerned officers and engineers.
At Kesar, the people demanded installation of BSNL tower to which CEC assured to take up the matter with the BSNL authorities.
The people of Rong-Chhurgyud demanded technology for production of Yak cheese. Spalbar issued instruction to the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr Abdul Qayum to initiate necessary training to the people within one week.
The people of Skidmang, demanded improvement and upgradation of basic infrastructure like road, drinking water supply, power supply, public convenience, ration etc. CEC assured the people that Council would take every possible measure for improvement of basic infrastructure.
During his visit to Kumdok, the people demanded black topping of Kumdok road, electricity supply and opening of a veterinary centre. CEC also asked Executive Councillor Health to initiate disciplinary action against the NRHM staff of MAC Kumdok, who were absent from duty since March 26.
CEC also issued directions to the District Social Welfare Officer to do a quick survey of all the villages and initiate measures for inclusion of every genuine person under the Old Age Pension Scheme.
At Nyoma, CEC inaugurated aluminum glass room, four newly constructed class rooms, new wooden flooring of four class rooms at Middle School. Area Councilor Thupstan Wangchuk, SDM Kacho Turab Shah, Sarpanches, Goba and locals were also present. CEC also inaugurated a Yak Cheese Maturation Chamber at Nyoma.
EC, Sheep and Animal Husbandry Gyurmet Dorje, EC, Health, Dr Sonam Wangchuk, SDM Nyoma Kacho Turab Shah, Councilor Nyoma Thupstan Wangchuk and a team of district officers and engineers accompanied the CEC during Changthang tour.
