J&K legislators apprised of Panchyat Raj system in Karnataka

BENGALURU, Apr 30: Legislators of Jammu and Kashmir were apprised of functioning of Panchyat Raj system in Karnataka by Minister for Panchyat Raj and Rural Development H K Patil at the Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat, today.

Karnataka had made its own mark in the country by successfully implementing the Panchayt Raj system in three stages. Welcoming the delegates led by Jakir Hussain Baig, Mr Patil gave details about the system and its functioning in the State.

Mr Baig said the first phase of Panchyat Raj system was introduced in J&K in 2011 and now it was proposed to take up second and third phase and hence the delegation was touring Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala to study its functioning and adopt.

Replying to a question, Mr Baig told newsmen that there was peace in the State. ”Only a small group is creating trouble but Jammu-Kashmir is always part of India,” he said.

The delegation comprised of, among others, Legislators Dr Shahanaj, Shaktiraj, Sheik Ishwak. (UNI)
