LPEF holds rally on eve of May Day, discusses demands

JAMMU, Apr 30: On the eve of May Day celebrations, numbers of employees, pensioners and Daily Wage Workers from all nooks and corners of Jammu province assembled in Parade Ground, today.
They took colourful procession, led by Com Abdul Maijid Khan, president of All J&K Paid Employees Federation passing through various bazaars of city and culminated into huge public rally, presided over by Daljeet Singh, secretary LPEF, Poonch was addressed by Abdul Majid Khan and others.
They were raising slogans for communal harmony regional solidarity of the State and in supports of their common as well as sectional demands like seeking firm commitment to implement 7% Pay Commission’s recommendation on Central pattern, release of 6% DA installment from January 2015 in cash, enhancement of Medical allowance to Rs 1000, minimum daily wage to Rs 350, honorarium of Numberdars, Anganwari workers and helpers, ReT Teachers, Education volunteers other commensurate with rise in price index, early redressal of outstanding grievances of employees belonging to Health and Family Welfare, Revenue, Judiciary, Irrigation, FC and other departments.
Khan, while addressing the gathering remembered with gratitude supreme sacrifice of trade union workers for the welfare of working classes and toiling masses of the world way back in 1886 in Chicago.
The federation chief denounced the policy of the State Government for recruitment on Government jobs on contractual basis and sought immediate withdrawal of the same which against the well established principal of equal work  and it is anti-youth measure as well.
Kabla Singh, Krishan Singh and R K Maini were others who spoke on the occasion.
