Bharti Airtel crosses 200 m customers mark in India

JAMMU, Aug 10: Bharti Airtel crossed the 200 million customer mark in India, including customers across categories of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile, fixed line and DSL broadband, IPTV and DTH services.
Commenting on the occasion, Sanjay Kapoor, CEO, India and South Asia, Bharti Airtel said that Bharti Airtel’s success story in India has been nothing short of exceptional. In this journey, while our first 14 years of operations saw a 100 million customers joining the Bharti Airtel family, it is remarkable that their next 100 million came from the last three years alone, he added.
Since the launch of its operations in 1995, Bharti Airtel has been at the forefront of India’s telecom growth story. It has been a pioneer both in terms of its innovative business model that helped drive affordability to telecom services and exciting services that have set a benchmark for the industry, he said, adding, that recently Bharti Airtel company became the first company in India to launch 4G services using the advanced LTE platform.
Shishir Kumar, CEO Upper North, Bharti Airtel said that in J&K specially, Bharti Airtel had initiated its operation in 2004 and continues to make considerable investments towards the introduction of new innovations and strengthening network experience for its customers in the region. He said that the company over the years has extended its footprints to the far-flung and difficult terrains including Leh, besides offering best in the class service offerings to its customers in J&K.
