Revenue officials in Vigilance net

JAMMU, May 7: The Vigilance Organization has booked the then Tehsildar Settlement, Jammu and other officials of Revenue Department, Jammu for misusing their official position in conferring ownership rights to a displaced person.
Verification conducted into the matter revealed that in violation to Cabinet Order No. 578-C of 1994 dated 07.05.1954 whereby unit of land prescribed for displaced families in any case should not exceed four acre of Aabi or six acre of Khushki land, the accused officials conferred ownership rights of excess land to the beneficiary.
On 25.02.1995, vide mutation No.554/Jeem, the then Tehsildar Settlement Jammu and other officials of Revenue Department Jammu without jurisdiction and justification by abuse of their officials position and in a conspired manner, conferred ownership rights of Government land total measuring 36 kanals 16 marlas situated at village Deeli Jammu upon one Krishna Wanti, wife of late Deputy Ram (displaced person of 1947), putting up at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The said Krishna Wanti was already allotted land measuring 48 kanals situated at villages Deeli, Paloura, Muthi and Barnai. The allotment of excess land measuring 33 kanals 16 marlas by the then Tehsildar Settlement, Jammu was also in-violation of Govt. Order No. Reh-9GR of 1990 dated 10.03.1990 and Govt. Order No. R/Reh/64/40111 dated 02.12.1985 of Revenue Department.
The aforementioned acts of omission and commission on the part of above mentioned officers/officials constitute offence punishable under Section  5(1) (d) read with  5(2) J&K P C  Act 2006 BK and 120-B RPC.
