Fresh WD to hit J&K today

SRINAGAR, May 7: A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to hit   the region tomorrow night which could result in rain or thundershowers in the Kashmir valley, where the mercury remained above normal during the past week.
Kargil recorded lowest 3.1 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature in the region, a Met department spokesman said here this afternoon.    He said there would be thundery development at isolated places in Kashmir and Jammu divisions during the next 24 hours.  Possibility of duststorm at isolated places in plain of Jammu division is also apprehended, he said.
During the subsequent four days, a fresh WD is expected to enter Jammu and Kashmir which could remain active onwards.  It was yet another pleasant day in the Valley where though the mercury remained above normal but winds also continued.   The summer capital, where political activities had increased after the reopening of Darbar Move, seat of the Government in summer capital on May 5, the maximum and minimum temperatures remained above normal during the past 24 hours.
However, the Sun was playing hide and seek in the city, where frequent traffic jam has become a routine despite traffic police claiming to have taken measures to regulate traffic. The Met spokesman said the maximum temperature yesterday in the city was 28.3 degrees, four notches above normal while the minimum temperature was 12.4 degrees a degrees above normal. The sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 28 degrees and 12 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in the city.
However, there was a drop in the minimum temperature at Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region. Against yesterdays minimum temperature of 7.3 degrees, it was 4.9 degrees at Leh while at border town of Kargil it was 3.1 degrees against yesterdays 3.8 degrees.
The sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures at Leh would be around  around 22 degrees and 7 degrees respectively tomorrow.   The minimum temperature at health resort of Pahalgam was 5 degrees, ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 8.8 degrees, Qazigund 8.6 degrees, Kokernag 10.9 degrees and Kupwara 9.3 degrees, he said.
