JAMMU, May 7: A delegation of West Pakistani refugees led by Labha Ram Gandhi, president, West Pakistani Refugees Action Committee, today called on Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to apprise him of the problems of the refugees.
Rajya Sabha member, Avinash Rai Khanna, who is Prabhari of J&K BJP, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament and State president of BJP and Shamsher Singh Manhas, Rajya Sabha member, were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister in which they demanded citizenship rights for West Pak refugees besides reservation in the Central forces, compensation to the tune of Rs 25 lakh per family, permission to repair their houses, etc.
Labha Ram Gandhi briefed the Prime Minister about hardships being faced by the West Pakistani refugees. He highlighted plights of the helpless refugees who are deprived of all constitutional rights.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave patience hearing to the delegation and assured to solve all problems of the West Pak refugees.
Sukhdev Singh Manhas, vice-president, West Pakistani Refugees Action Committee, Kuldeep Raj, Sanjeev Manmotra and Jagtar Singh Jagga were part of the delegation.
