Kishtwar Campus organizes seminar on ‘Kashmiri language in Chenab Valley’

KISHTWAR, May 7: Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu, today organized one day seminar on the topic “Present Position of Kashmiri Language in Chenab Valley”.
Former Minister & MLA Inderwal, G.M. Saroori was chief guest on the occasion while Dr Aftab Ahmed Khan, Principal Government Degree College, Kishtwar presided over the function.
Student Tanveer Ahmad Malik and faculty members Ali Mohd Dar and   Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar were the resource persons of the seminar and they spoke about the present scenario of the Kashmiri language in the Chenab valley. They informed that many good literature have been produced by the writers of Chenab from time to time. They stressed the need for introducing Kashmiri subject at school and college levels.  Kashmir has a rich culture and literature background especially in the Chenab Valley and it is the duty of the young generation to promote Kashmiri language in the Valley of Chenab, they added.
G M Saroori, in his speech, said that he would discuss various problem of Kashmiri language with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and will stress to introduce Kashmiri language in schools and colleges of Chenab Valley. He appealed the young generation to speak their mother tongue in their day to day affairs so that the language could flourish. He offered his full support to the Kishtwar Campus for organizing literary events.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Director Kishtwar Campus, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik threw light on the origin and development of Kashmiri language in the Chenab Valley.  He said that the history of Kashmiri language was incomplete without acknowledging those towering writers such as Rasa Javadani, Kamgar Kishtwari, Nishat Kishtwari, Janbaz Kishtwari and other who have rendered selfless services to the Kashmiri language.
Dr Aftab Ahmed Khan, Principal Degree College Kishtwar, informed that most of the people living in various parts of Chenab Valley had migrated from Kashmir Valley and therefore having similar culture.
