KATRA, May 8: Setting all speculations regarding the fate of coalition in the State to rest, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the BJP-PDP coalition will last for full six years term.
Talking to reporters at the sidelights of the Party’s two days workshop here, Dr Singh said the Government is working on the agenda of alliance. “It is neither ideological alliance nor political alliance but alliance for good governance and development”, he added.
He said the people of the State have suffered a lot due to wrong policies of previous coalition and the new Government is committed to give equal treatment to the all three regions of the State and remove the regional discrimination. “Our Government is to wipe out the tears of the poor and oppressed people who have suffered over the years and take the State on the path of development and progress”, he added.
Addressing the workshop, Dr Singh detailed the Legislators and other Party men about the prevailing political scenario in the State. Later a one to one discussion was held on the issue with Legislators by him.
Addressing the workshop BJP National general secretary (Org) Ram Lal who was the chief guest to inaugurate the two days training workshop said the BJP is not power hungry but the main reason for the Party to join the coalition in the State was to take the State on the path of progress and development.
He said “our agenda is development and good governance. The Government with PDP was framed under CMP with an objective of overall development of the State, eradication of corruption and promote the national interest, he added.
He said efforts of Partymen have borne fruit to install BJP Government at the Centre as people were fed up with the wrong policies of UPA during its 10 year long rule. He said BJP projected Narendra Modi as PM candidate and people reposed full faith him by voting enmass in favour of Party. Later in the Assembly elections in J&K people also voted for the Party. “Though we could not get expected results in Ladakh and Kashmir regions to form the Government on our own but the Party got overwhelming support in Jammu region”, he added.
Ram Lal said no Government in the J&K was possible without the support of BJP and for the overall interests of the people of the State and to respect the mandate of Jammu people, the party joined the coalition.
Earlier BJP spokesman and senior leader Farooq Khan threw light on the functions of the Legislators and held a one to one interaction with them. On the occasion Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Party State general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul were also present.
The Party MPs including Union MoS in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States Dr Jitendra Singh were also expected to take part in the today’s programme but due their preoccupation in Parliament they could not attend it today. However they are expected to take part on second day tomorrow, a Party spokesman said.
