One dies, 3 injured in road mishap

REASI, May 8: One person died and three others, including driver, sustained critical injuries when a Tata Mobile rolled down in a gorge at Chankah, here today.
The vehicle, bearing registration number JK20-2607, was on its way from Reasi to Dharmaree when it met with the accident.
The victims were rushed to District Hospital Reasi where one of them was declared as brought dead. The deceased was identified as Farid Ahmad, son of Abdul Hamid of Soo Bathoi.
The injured were identified as Surinder Singh (driver), son of Rashpal Singh of Thanpal, Tilak Raj, son of Bodh Raj of Tali Morh Reasi and 14-year old Maqsood Hussain, son of Mohd Ashraf of Dada Mahore.
Meanwhile, reports from Katra said that a female pilgrim from Utter Pradesh was assaulted by her husband with some sharp edged weapon.
The couple, identified as Shiv Devi (33) and her husband Vinod Kumar, resident of Barawanti, UP, had come here for visiting Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and was staying in a private guest house at Katra. This morning, the woman was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries and crying for help. On being informed, Police reached the spot and shifted the victim to hospital while the husband had fled the scene.
According to SHO Katra, Inspt Kuldeep Krishan, the Police was investigating the matter on the basis of the victim’s statement and footage of CCTVs, installed in the guest house while a manhunt has been launched for arrest of the accused husband.
