SRINAGAR : Taking a dig at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for dilapidated condition of the national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, working president of the main opposition National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah today urged him (Mufti) to shun helicopter. Trying to prove his opponents wrong, the former Chief Minister said he was frequently visiting his Beerwa constituency in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, from where he got elected to the Assembly, but lost in Sonawar constituency of this district.
Mr Abdullah retweeted a tweet of Tanvir Sadiq, an NC leader asking him what went to the promise made before the formation of the government that PDP joined BJP only to get more funds for the state from the Centre, where BJP is in power. In a tweet, he said “Dear Mufti Sahib, for your trip to your constituency today please shun the helicopter & drive so you can see the state of the “highway”. “One of those eternal mysteries – why do VIP/VVIP backsides only feel comfortable sitting on towels, especially nice new white ones???, he said.
“Omar Abdullah visits his constituency. Meets people at the office in #Beerwah. Visits other areas,” a tweet by NC said.
Mr Abdullah immediately after his return from Washington, where he gave a lecture in George Washington University recently, visited his Beerwa constituency.
He said “Trying to prove my opponents, who tried to scare voters by claiming I would disappear after the elections, wrong.”
Mr Abdullah retweeted Tanvir Sadiq, “But weren’t we told that by the father-daughter duo that this alliance was so the money taps would flow freely???.”
He was referring to Minister for Finance Dr Haseebs recent interview that coalition with BJP was not to get finance from New Delhi. (AGENCIES)
