Manasbal, May 9: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary, Animal/Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries Department today appreciated the quality of work and infrastructure at National Fish Seed Farm, here while conducting a maiden visit to this Project site.
He was accompanied by Bali Joint Director (Projects) Kashmir, Fisheries Department, Chief Project Officer, and other senior officers of the department.
While conducting extensive tour of Manasbal Farm which is spread over 400 kanals of land, Amit was apprised that this Fish Seed Farm produces huge quantum of fish seed which is produced in hatcheries of the farm throughout the year. This is carp fish seed which is further supplied to farmers and thrown in streams and other water bodies of entire Kashmir valley for production of quality fish in this region of the State.
The major infrastructure visited by Special Secretary include laboratories, training-cum-awareness facilities, lot of fish seed ponds, apart from state-of-the-art fish feed plant in the campus located adjacent to the famous Manasbal lake.
Amit Sharma appreciated newly established Fully-Automated Fish Feed Plant created inside this Farm Campus which is producing top-quality carnivores feed for trout fish being supplied not only locally but also being exported out of this facility outside the state. He also impressed upon the officers of the department to replicate setting-up of such plants in other parts of the state by developing such infrastructures as core competencies of Fisheries Department.
Moreover, Amit expressed satisfaction over Manasbal Fish Farm’s professional management and quality fish seed production by well-qualified staff employed in the farm.
