JAMMU, May 11: On seventh death anniversary of late Ashok Sodhi, former Chief Photographer of the Daily Excelsior, media persons and others paid rich tributes to the senior photojournalist who had attained martyrdom while performing his professional duties during a fierce encounter between militants and security forces at Samba.
Journalists from print as well as electronic media offered their floral tributes to Ashok Sodhi and recalled his contribution towards society as a whole and journalism in particular.
A two-minute silence was also observed for paying the tributes and peace to the departed soul.
During a simple function in this connection, MLA Jammu-East Rajesh Gupta, IGP Jammu Danish Rana, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Soujanya Sharma, DIG Jammu Shakeel Beig, president Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Rakesh Gupta and others also paid their tributes to Ashok Sodhi and recalled his services to the media.
Press Club Jammu also paid floral tributes to Ashok Sodhi and advised the budding journalists to be careful of their security while performing professional duties, particularly during coverage of the live encounters or incidents related to law and order problems.
