Bhalla takes stock of people’s problems

JAMMU, Aug 11: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that Government is initiating all efforts to develop every part of the State by providing improved basic amenities to the people, adding that there is no constraint of funds under development sectors.
The Minister said this while interacting with the people of Sanjay Nagar after assessing their development related problems, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government has taken various innovative measures to improve the living standards of the people, particularly those residing in peripheries of urban centres. He said for this purpose UPA Government has provided Rs. 8000 crore annual plan for developing every corner with all basic amenities like safe drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare,  education, electricity, sewerage besides better lanes and drains.  He said many more projects are in pipeline to provide succour to the people through developmental schemes.
In order to overcome unscheduled power cuts and low voltage in Shastri Nagar and its adjoining areas, the Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 4.77 crore for construction of 10 MVA 33/11 KVA receiving station.
Responding to locals’ demands, the Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 51 lakh for upgradation of lanes, drains with grating facilities. He asked the executing agencies to complete the works within prescribed time frame. For providing adequate and regular drinking water supply to Sanjay Nagar, Bathindi, Sunjwan, Narwal, Chatha and Raika areas inhabitants, the Minister said Government has placed Rs. 49 lakh with PDD under ERA for boosting water supply through Boria Intake Filtration Plant these areas. He said 80% works have been completed and balanced works are under progress on war-footing and would be completed by next month.
Regarding face lifting of all open spaces in Sanjay Nagar and Rani Talab areas that have been available on the embankments of nallahs, the Minister said Government has released Rs. 5 crore for the purpose. He asked the Floriculture Department to immediately start the works like illumination, landscaping, irrigation, drinking water besides sitting facilities. He said after inauguration of such places, the people particularly morning and evening walkers could enjoy their spare time there.
