CRPF jawan convicted for killing Inspector, 2 others in CM’s residence

JAMMU, Aug 11: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Subash C Gupta today convicted the then Constable of the CRPF, who had killed Inspector and two Havaldars, at Chief Minister’s residence here about six years back.
According to the prosecution case, on April 3, 2006, accused CRPF constable namely Anand Kumar Singh, son of Ram Naresh Singh of Bihar shot dead Inspector Mohan Shyam from his Insas Rifle over an old enmity at Chief Minister’s residence at Wazarat Road. He also killed two Havaldars namely Joginder Jha and H N Pandey when they tried to nab the accused jawan.
Accordingly, a case was registered at Peer Mitha Police Station under Section 302 RPC and 30 Arms Act. During the course of investigation, the accused CRPF jawan was arrested and on his disclosure weapon of offence and other ammunition, which was issued in his favour by the CRPF, was recovered.
After completion of investigation, police presented challan in the court of law.
After hearing APP KA Qazi for the State whereas Advocate O P Sharma for the accused, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Subash C Gupta observed, “from the investigation carried out by the police and material on record an irresistible conclusion can be drawn that there is consistent, cogent, reliable, believable and trustworthy evidence  to prove that on  3rd of April 2006, at 7.45 pm  accused Anand Kumar Singh, with  criminal intention to murder the deceased, Inspector Mohan Shyam, H.N Pandey and Joginder Jha,   made fire shots upon them, with his Insas Rifle at CRPF Camp, located  in the premises of the CM’s House, thereby killing them on spot”.
“Hence, accused Anand Kumar Singh, is convicted for commission of offence of murder, punishable under Section 302 RPC”, the Judge said and adjourned the case for arguments on quantum of sentence.
