JAMMU, May 16: Taking serious note of shifting of recently sanctioned AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu has decided to suspend the work in all the subordinate courts, Tribunal and High Court on Monday.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Bar held under the chairmanship of its president Advocate Abhinav Sharma. The members of the Association accused the Union Government of giving step motherly treatment to people of Jammu division.
It was stated that while presenting General Budget, the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had announced setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Jammu and proposed a total sum of Rs 2206 crore for financial year 2015-16 for setting up of AIIMS in five States including the State of J&K. Taking strong exception to the statements made by Chief Minister that District Hospitals and the Super Specialist Hospital will be upgraded in Jammu and AIIMS would be established only in Kashmir valley, the Bar decided that its representatives would call upon all the Ministers belonging to Jammu division and also the MLAs. They would be asked to either force the Central Government to set up AIIMS at Jammu or step down against the discriminatory decision of the Central Government failing which High Court Bar with the support of several organizations would not hesitate in exposing them in the public for defeating the interest and cause of the Jammu division in order to remain in power.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Pranav Kohli, General Secretary A P Singh, Joint Secretary Depesh Singh Pawar, Cashier Rahul Sharma, YLA President Daljeet Singh Manhas and Vice President YLA Pardeep Majotra and senior members of the Bar V R Wazir, L K Sharma, O P Sharma, N P Kotwal, Vinod Kotwal, K N Sapolia, Pt Paras Ram, Krishan Kumar Sharma, Surinder Singh, S S Khajuria and B L Kalogtra.
