JAMMU, May 16: In continuation of the streak towards ensuring efficient functioning of Livestock sector in the State, Amit Sharma, Special Secretary, Animal/Sheep and Fisheries Department today undertook an extensive tour of Frozen Semen Station Hakkal, Jammu alongwith reviewing the functioning of Livestock Development Board at Jammu.
He was accompanied by Sham Lal Bhagat, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, S.K Abrol, CEO Livestock Development Board Jammu, S.K Gupta, Joint Director Farms Jammu alongwith other senior officers of the department.
During the visit, Amit Sharma assessed the level of preparedness of the department for upcoming inspection of the Frozen Semen Station at Jammu which will be graded very soon by Central Monitoring Unit as has been done recently in Kashmir valley. The whole of the facilities and testing laboratories at Frozen Semen Station Jammu have been under constant renovation and quality up-gradation for the last one and half year so that they should get best possible grading during the inspection in near future by CMU.
Amit highlighted the need for installation and operationalization of latest Liquid Nitrogen Plant machinery at Jammu Station at the earliest on the same lines as has already been successfully done at Ranbirbagh Station at Srinagar. He further pressed officers to ensure that Artificial Insemination (AI) facilities should be ensured at the doorsteps of farmers/cattle-rearers which is the very basic objective of setting-up such Frozen Semen Stations, both at Jammu and Srinagar.
Before this tour of Frozen Semen Station, Special Secretary Amit Sharma took a comprehensive review meeting on the functioning of the Livestock Development Board wherein he made an in-depth analysis about the activities of the Board while exhorting upon the officers to make best use of the resources available for maximizing the public welfare by expanding its activities base in winter capital of the State.
He emphasized on adoption of an integrated approach towards submission of innovative, commercially viable and sustainable projects such as induction of indigenous breeds rather than cross or exotic breeds to the Central Government by both Livestock Development Boards in future. He also gave a patient hearing towards the challenges faced by officers of LDB Jammu and alongside assured them to get the same sorted out at the earliest in near future.
