JAMMU, May 17: Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a function here at KL Saigal Hall to release two books titled ‘Hadees-e-Hayat’ and ‘Tanhayian’ written by OP Shakir.
MLA Akhnoor, Rajiv Sharma, presided over the function whereas Danesh Rana, IGP Jammu, was the chief guest. Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist, Dr ML Sharma, former HoD, Department of Pharmachology, IIIM Jammu, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, additional secretary, JKAACL and OP Sharma, Director, JKCCA, Jammu, also shared the presidium.
‘Hadees-e-Hayat’ is a collection of Urdu poetry whereas ‘Tanhayian’ is a collection of poetry in Hindi.
MLA Akhnoor, in his presidential address, appreciated the roll of JKCCA in the development of art, culture and languages in and outside the State. He also appreciated the author of the books for his contribution in the field of literature in Urdu and Hindi.
IGP Jammu in his address lauded the efforts of the JKCCA for providing a platform to the artists of the State.
Earlier, OP Sharma in his welcome address highlighted the activities done by JKCCA for the promotion of art, culture and literature.
OP Shakir, the author of the books, while speaking on the occasion threw light on the content of the books. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani read out a paper on the books of OP Shakir, released today.
A musical programme based on the poetry of OP Shakir was also presented on the occasion by Dharmesh Nargotra.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Arvinder Singh, additional secretary, JKAACL.
