Factually incorrect

Sir,
Apropos the article-“Let us wish each other well” by Amit Kushari (IAS Rtd) in this paper on May 15, reminds of upholding the human values and shun vices like hatred etc. The article is welcome and timely. The learned author of the article has referred to Malerkotla which appears like an oasis in the desert of misdeeds of 1947 there is a mistake in the narration.
As per recorded Sikh history. Nawab of Malerkotla did not give protection to Sikh Guru as written in the article but he voted against the decision of the then Governor of Sirhind to put two younger children of Guru Gobind Singh ji to death and walked out of Governor Durbar against  the cruel and unIslamic verdict (Baba Zoravar Singh-aged- 7 years and Baba Fateh Singh-aged- 5 years to death in 1704 AD) Sikh Sangat did not forget the brave and benevolent act of Nawab of Malerkotla and approached the descendants of the Nawab in 1947 to know their wish as to stay back in India or go to Pakistan. They desired to stay back and live in India. There upon Sikh Sangat saw to it that no miscreant looked towards Malerkotla with malice. Another Muslim family of a devout Muslim ancestor (who was admirer of Guru Gobind Singh)was also asked by the Sikhs and they desired to migrate to Pakistan. Sikhs accompanied them up to border and wished them well. There are many more stories of humanism on both sides in 1947.
Yours etc….
