Cardamom futures rise 1.34 pc as spot demand picks up

NEW DELHI, May 19: Cardamom prices rose by 1.34 per cent to Rs 816.10 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created positions driven by pickup in demand in the spot market.

Further, restricted arrivals from producing regions supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June rose by Rs 10.80, or 1.34 per cent to Rs 816.10 per kg in business turnover of 505 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July edged up by Rs 6.60, or 0.83 per cent, to Rs 799.80 per kg in 18 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of rise in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade. (PTI)
