SRINAGAR:
Governor N N Vohra today reviewed the arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra scheduled to begin from July 2.
The Governor, who is the chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, said while most of the arrangements are being made within the earlier fixed timelines, sustained publicity should be carried out to caution the pilgrims about the do’s and the don’ts of the yatra.
“It was necessary for sustained publicity being carried out to caution the pilgrims about the do’s and don’ts of the yatra so that every pilgrim prepares to be physically fit before embarking on this arduous pilgrimage,” Vohra said.
He said it was also necessary that every pilgrim obtains yatra registration, after furnishing a medical certificate of physical fitness, to avoid inconvenience on arrival.
The Governor had on Sunday travelled to Baltal base camp to inspect the road condition and the ongoing preparatory work at the yatra camp site.
He will be visiting Nunwan and Chandanwari base camps later this month, besides undertaking an aerial survey of the entire yatra area on May 30, during which he will have meetings at the Holy Cave, Panjtarni and Sheshnag. (AGENCIES)
