JAMMU, May 19: On the second consecutive day today, the work in High Court Jammu wing as well as District Court Complex remained affected as lawyers abstained work in protest against shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Srinagar.
Meanwhile, in the all party meeting convened by Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, it was decided that a co-ordination committee will be constituted comprising of various members of these organizations. The committee will hold its meeting on Saturday to decide future course of action.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Bar president Advocate Abhinav Sharma was attended by representatives of Indian National Congress, National Conference, BSP, JKNPP, Chamber of Commerce, J&K Petrol Pump Tankers Association, Transport Association, Federation of Retailers, Hotelier and Lodges Association, SOS, J&K People’s Forum, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Swarn Kar Sang, Rajput Sabha, Ram Sena, Dalit Chetna Manch and All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha.
In the meeting, the statement made by Chief Minister that AIIMS would be established in Kashmir, was condemned as the establishment of AIIMS is 100% Centrally sponsored project and Chief Minister was not competent to make such statement.
It was unanimously resolved that all the elected representatives from Jammu region particularly the Ministers representing Jammu province should immediately take up the matter with the Central Government for establishment of AIIMS at Jammu. The participants said that elected MLAs and Ministers from Jammu should come up with a clear stand by Saturday failing which people from Jammu province will be forced to take extreme steps which may include asking the elected MLAs and Ministers to step down.
