Lal Singh stresses on improving OPD, IPD in hospitals

SRINAGAR, May 20: Continuing with his endeavour to provide better health facilities to people at their doorsteps, Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today inspected the healthcare facilities being provided to the people at Kashmir Nursing Home at Gupkar Road. He asked the hospital authorities to chalk out effective strategies to provide enhanced and prompt health services to the people.
In order to make optimal use of Kashmir Nursing Home, the Minister directed the Medical Superintendent of the hospital to take immediate measures to revive its functioning so that the best medicare facilities at par with Government Medical College Srinagar be provided to the people of the Valley. He directed for creating necessary infrastructure and renovation of the institution at the earliest.
Ch Lal Singh hoped that the institution will be able to cater to the needs of thousands of people of Srinagar and they may not have to move to SKIMS for getting the specialized diagnostic facilities. He said the Government is making all out efforts to provide round-the-clock healthcare facilities to the people, adding that in this regard Government is taking steps to upgrade the overall health scenario in the state and the change is visible on the ground.
The Minister asked the doctors to gear up their efforts in improving Out Patient Department (OPD) and Indoor Patient Department (IPD) in their respective hospitals including bedding and cleanliness.
The Minister also interacted with the doctors and para-medics and listened to their problems. He said that Government has already initiated several steps for improving the working environment and created better facilities in the Government institutions and hoped that they deliver as per the expectations of the public. He said medical profession is a noble profession and they must maintain the credibility of this pious profession.
