Agrasen University celebrates 60 years of Indo-Bulgaria diplomatic relations

JAMMU, May 23:  Maharaja Agrasen University today celebrated the 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Bulgaria.
Petko Doykov, Ambassador of Republic of Bulgaria to India was the chief guest on this occasion.  Prof S P Bansal, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Arvind Alok, Chairman, Buddhist Development Council, Milana and Valmivir from Bulgaria were also present.
Welcoming the guests in traditional way, Prof S P Bansal said that there were not only political but also strong cultural relations between both the countries. He discussed about the similarities in the educational system in India and Bulgaria. He said that there is   possibility of academic collaboration and exchange of students and faculty between Maharaja Agrasen University and Bulgaria very soon.
Chief guest Petko Doykov, Ambassador of Republic of Bulgaria to India, assured the Vice-Chancellor Prof S P Bansal that he will make all efforts for an academic collaboration between Bulgaria and Maharaja Agrasen University. He said that soon he will send Bulgarian architects to Maharaja Agrasen University for exhibition of poster and photographs.  He also answered the various queries of the students and faculty after his address.
Prof Arvind Alok, in his address said that like Nalanda and Taxila Universities, Maharaja Agrasen University was also engaged in various social and cultural activities for the up-liftment of downtrodden. He said that it is at Bulgaria that East meets the West. He also expressed his desire that there should not only be academic collaboration between Maharaja Agrasen University and Bulgaria but both should be partners in the cultural traditions.
