SAMBA, May 23: Minister for Industries & Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today reviewed the arrangements for annual Baba Chambyal and Baba Sidh Goria Mela.
In this regard, the Minister chaired two meetings at Swankha and Chambyal with district officers to review arrangements for the twin religious events.
The Chambyal Mela is held every year on June 25 at the shrine of Baba Chambyal located near International Border, while Baba Sidh Goria Mela is held on June 28.
Highlighting the importance of Baba Chambyal Mela, Minister said the people from all over the country visit the shrine that is famous for “Shakkar and Sharbat” which have healing properties for the skin diseases.
The meeting discussed in detail the arrangements for successful conduct of Baba Sidh Goria and Baba Chambyal Melas.
The Minister directed X-En PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply and maintenance and repair of electric poles and wires, in and around Mela sites. He also asked the PDD to install additional 250 KVA transformer to maintain regular supply of electricity, while X-En PWD was asked to improve the road connectivity and to maintain a proper parking facility for the pilgrims.
The Minister also directed to ensure barricading at both the Mela sites so as to avoid inconvenience to pilgrims.
Municipal committee Ramgarh and Vijaypur was given directions to maintain cleanliness at the Mela sites, before and after the end of the event.
The Minister also directed the Police Department to ensure full security arrangements in and around Mela sites.
Earlier, DDC Samba Sheetal Nanda briefed that a control room will be setup in the premises of Baba Sidh Goria and Baba Chambyal where officials one each from PWD, PHE , PDD, Transport and Traffic Departments will be present round the clock to facilitate the pilgrims. She also informed that Tehsildar Ramgarh will be the nodal officer for both the melas.
The DDC also constituted a committee comprising Food Safety Officer, CAPD, Legal Metrology Department and directed them to conduct market surveys, check quality of food items and ensure proper display of rate list of food items during the Mela days.
