JAMMU, May 24: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today conducted an extensive tour of, Shahpur, Khour, Jourian, Kotthe, Changian, Channana and Nandpur of Bishnah tehsil and reviewed the ongoing repair and desilting works of distributaries of Ranbir Canal and its minor canal also.
Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control HC Jeerath, XEn PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control besides Superintending Engineer I&FC, Executive Engineer I&FC, Assistant Executive Engineer I&FC accompanied the Minister.
The Minister inspected D-9 and D-17 of main canal and its entire stretch up to tail end of border areas. He stressed upon the officers for proper use of funds which has been released under annual plan for construction of canal banks, and desilting works. He directed the Chief Engineer I&FC to gear up their men and machinery for timely completion of the works and make efforts on war footing to ensure water is released on timely for irrigation purposes.
During inspection, the minister directed the executing agencies for maintaining quality of material, adherence to the technical norm and proper curing, adding that no laxity in this regard will be tolerated. The Minister directed for repair of irrigation channels for proper distribution of irrigation water to ensure water facilities at the tail end so that the farmers do not face any inconvenience.
While interacting with the people, the Minister was apprised about the problems regarding irrigation during paddy season, he directed the Irrigation authority to achieve the target with in time frame so that farmers do not face any problem in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Minister inaugurated a tube well at Shahpur in tehsil Bishnah.
The Minister also inspected the pump room which has been constructed for safe guarding the voltage stabiliser, pumping machinery, electric panel etc.
Among others MLA Bishnah Kamal Arora, Ex-MLA Ashwani Sharma, XEn Irrigation and Flood Control Rajeev Gandotra, XEn PHE Prem Kumar were present on the occasion.
