SRINAGAR, May 24: Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir today dismissed the remarks of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on revival of Ikhwan culture in the State.
Speaking at a day long political convention of the Party at Kupwara today, Mir rejected the Defence Minister’s remarks on Kashmir situation in which he indicated about Ikhwan culture in Kashmir. He expressed surprise over his remarks and said it clearly shows the mindset of NDA Government.
“There is neither any space for another gun culture, nor it can be allowed to prevail again in the State, as the situation in Valley has improved considerably. Any such move by the NDA Govt with regard to Jammu and Kashmir will be defeated on every front. It indicates that Defence Minister had not done his home work properly, before his departure from the Union Capital,” Mir maintained.
Expressing his serious concern over the intentions of the State Govt in respect of providing ration to the people as per the 2011 Census report, Mir said MLAs of ruling parties with the help of bureaucrats are indulging in pick and choose policy as, those consumers who are already registered are being left out and un-registered families are being registered, with the sole aim to gain political mileage out of it.
Mir blamed the Govt over trying to enlist new persons as casual labours in the list of 62,000 casual and daily rated workers, who have been engaged during previous coalition Government, still they have not been regularized or adjusted, purely on political grounds. Govt is trying to show the door to those deserving persons who have been discharging their duties for a long, just to engage blue eyed persons of MLAs and other leaders of ruling party. Even the Panchayat bodies are not being allowed to function, it is very strange that Annual plans are being formulated without taking Panchayat bodies into confidence.
PCC chief alleged that Mufti Sayeed only sold dreams to the people while on ground level the position is clear before the public. He blamed both PDP- BJP coalition for misleading and playing politics with the people on relief and rehabilitation. Terming ‘coalition’ a divided house, he said they don’t trust each other and they have forgotten the issues confronting the State.
Meem Afzal, spokesperson AICC alleged that Modi Government is compromising national interest and national security. Principles and priorities of this Government to strengthen the Nation are misplaced. Deliberate neglect, juvenile ignorance and an obsessive fetish to project Prime Minister’s image internationally characterizes Modi Government’s approach to secure our borders and maintain internal security. The policies, programmes and diplomatic misadventures are suggesting that India has lost its strategic outlook on Defence.
MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, MLA Gulam Nabi Monga, Farooq Andrabi, S S Channi, Haji Farooq Mir and Shoaib Lone also spoke on the occasion.
