SRINAGAR, May 24: Former minister and member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil has alleged that Mufti Govt’s claim to curb corruption and take stringent action in this regard have proved hoax.
In a press statement issued here the Congress leader urged the Chief Minister to take stringent measures to curb corruption in the State and make the administration accountable. He said the menace of corruption has eroded the system and common masses are suffering for a long time due to this menace and not getting justice due to corruption, nepotism and favoritism in administration. He urged the CM to look into the financial mess in various departments which is hampering the development of the State.
Mr Vakil said that corruption undoubtedly flourishes from top level and anti graft bodies like State Vigilance Commission, State Accountability Commission and State Information Commission were constituted for curbing corruption and cleaning the system from unscrupulous elements. He said despite huge investment in these anti graft Commissions, desired results have not been achieved so far. He urged the Chief Minister to strengthen these institutions and ensure disposal of all pending cases in a time bound manner.
Vakil said the tall claims of the Coalition Government about eradication of corruption in the background are naught but a hoax and the ground situation is out rightly contradictory to the state affirmations and hollow promises.
